A Surprising Number of People Are Ditching Google for Bing

A consumer survey shows that the iconic Google search may be in danger.

Mega-tech company Alphabet  (GOOG) - Get Free Report has long dominated the charts as the #1 search engine -- but that coveted status may be threatened in the very near future.

According to executive director at Yahoo Finance Brian Sozzi, customers are already looking to an emerging technology Google can't yet provide. A consumer survey found that quite a few folks are looking to replace the company's iconic search engine with Bing now that the latter has added AI technology to its search capabilities.

Microsoft  (MSFT) - Get Free Report has been a major investor in OpenAI's revolutionary new artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT. The chat generator has been making headlines since its premiere to the public in November 2022.

Amid the buzz, major tech personalities and companies have expressed concerns --but apparently, that hasn't stopped people from utilizing the new technology.

This consumer survey, which Sozzi did not provide a source for, shows that the majority of users are willing to make Bing the next big search engine -- and the post's comments are full of Bing-exclusive perks that could help sway the remaining 17% of consumers still on the fence.

Quite a few respondents point out that Bing offers points for using the service, which can be cashed in for gift cards. Why not get paid every time you ask the internet a question?

Still, others remain skeptical. After all, Google rose to popularity thanks to its ability to deliver precise search results. Bing, however, hasn't garnered the same reputation for accuracy.
