'Aashiqui 2' director Mohit Suri teams up with Yash Raj Films for a 'young' love story, likely to go on floors this year

In a fresh development from the corridors of Bollywood, speculations are rife that director Mohit Suri has reportedly collaborated with Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films for his next film. According to a Pinkvilla report, Suri will be teaming up with Yash Raj Films for his upcoming project, said to be a “youthful love story.” The film, which marks the debut production of Akshaye Widhani, the company’s CEO, is also expected to go on floors later this year.

The report further suggests that Mohit Suri will direct a heartwarming young love story that will cater to young audiences in the country. Known for being quite successful in this genre, the director is expected to deliver yet another hit which is once again expected to resonate with the sentiments of the youth.

The film’s shooting is likely to commence later in 2024. The makers also plan to unveil the cast very soon, which might predominantly feature newcomers. Currently, details about the project have been kept under wraps.

A source close to the development disclosed information stating, “Aditya Chopra is empowering Akshaye Widhani and his leadership team to establish creative partnerships with the most brilliant minds in the Hindi film industry. While Widhan will produce his inaugural film, Mohit who has developed several major hits in the genre will direct the film targetting the youth of the country.”

Mohit Suri’s work front

On the work front, Mohit Suri’s last venture was the 2022 crime thriller film Ek Villain Returns featuring actors like John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles.

The film which was the sequel to the 2014 hit film Ek Villain did average business at the box office. Besides the upcoming project, Suri is also said to be doing a film with Disha Patani and Vishal Rana.

According to a Pinkvilla report, Mohit and Vishal have been discussing the collaboration for a while now and teamed up for the action film which is also expected to go on the floors this year. It is said to be a female lead action film with Disha headlining the project.
