Apple iPhone 15 series: From Pricing and availability to specs, here’s everything to know about iPhone 15, 15 Plus

Apple has taken another monumental step in the smartphone industry with the launch of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. The two non-Pro devices boast a plethora of features, some of which are groundbreaking for Apple fans.

Both of these smartphones boast several notable hardware enhancements compared to last year’s iPhone models. These improvements encompass the incorporation of Apple’s A16 Bionic chipset, the introduction of Dynamic Island, and the inclusion of a 48MP primary camera – features that were previously exclusive to last year’s Pro models.

This year, all of Apple’s iPhone models come with a USB Type-C port, marking a departure from the proprietary Lightning charging port that has been a staple in Apple devices.

The iPhone 15 is a dual SIM (Nano) smartphone featuring a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, fortified with Ceramic Shield material to enhance durability. Apple has incorporated the Dynamic Island, previously introduced in the iPhone 14 Pro models, into this year’s iPhone 15. This display boasts an impressive peak brightness of up to 2000 nits, and the device itself carries an IP68 rating, ensuring protection against dust and water. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Plus offers an even larger 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display.

In contrast to the previous year’s iteration, the primary camera on both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models now sports a 48MP wide-angle lens equipped with a 2-micrometer quad-pixel sensor and an impressive f/1.6 aperture. Additionally, the smartphones are equipped with a 12MP ultra-wide camera featuring an f/1.6 aperture and sensor-shift image stabilisation. For selfies and video chats, the handsets are equipped with a 12MP TrueDepth camera on the front within the new dynamic island.

The latest offerings from Apple, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, come equipped with the A16 Bionic chip, which notably powered last year’s iPhone 14 Pro models. These phones mark a significant shift for Apple as they become the first in the company’s lineup to incorporate a USB Type-C port, replacing the previously used proprietary Lightning connector. While Apple has not officially disclosed information regarding the amount of RAM or battery capacities in both devices, we can anticipate that additional details will emerge from third-party sources in the coming weeks.

In India, the starting price for the iPhone 15 is Rs 79,900, while the base 128GB variant of the iPhone 15 Plus comes in at Rs 89,900. The 256GB will be around Rs 89,900 for iPhone 15, and Rs 99,900 for the iPhone 15 Plus. The 512GB iPhone 15 will cost around Rs 1,09,900 whereas the iPhone 15 Plus will cost Rs 1,19,900.

Apple offers both models in a range of colours, including Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow. Interested buyers can begin placing pre-orders for these phones starting September 15, and the official release date for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus is set for September 22. Additionally, consumers will have the option to choose models with storage capacities of up to 512GB.
