Apple Wonderlust 2023: Apple won’t launch iPhone 15 Ultra this year, new iPhone line to debut in 2024

Despite earlier speculation that this year’s premium iPhone model might adopt the name “iPhone 15 Ultra,” it appears that Apple will not be going in that direction.

According to a recent report outlining expectations for the upcoming “Wonderlust” event, Bloomberg has revealed that Apple intends to retain the “Pro Max” branding for this year’s top-tier iPhone, naming it the “iPhone 15 Pro Max.”

There has been considerable speculation about whether Apple would introduce the “Ultra” brand, particularly in light of the Apple Watch Ultra from last year. However, it now appears that these discussions were ultimately inconclusive.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, in addition to sharing insights into the battery life and camera specifications of the iPhone 15, as well as the prospect of USB-C AirPods, has confirmed the nomenclature for the high-end iPhone this year as the “iPhone 15 Pro Max.”

In accordance with its established practice in recent years, Apple is set to introduce four distinct models in its upcoming iPhone 15 lineup. These models will include the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the highest-tier variant, which will be referred to as the iPhone 15 Pro Max. There won’t be an iPhone 15 Ultra in 2023.

In all likelihood, Apple won’t be launching the Ultra in their regular series, and may instead opt to release it as a standalone series, like it did with the Watch Ultra. Whatever the case may be the iPhone Ultra is likely to be launched in 2024.

The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will serve as the base models, featuring aluminium sides and a glass back, much like their predecessors, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus.

The two top-tier iPhone models will undergo a significant design change. They will be moving on from stainless steel frames to a titanium build, marking a notable shift in materials used for the premium variants. This change in construction materials is expected to contribute to a fresh and distinctive look for the high-end iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.
