Apple's AirTags Just Hit their All-Time Lowest Price of the Year on Amazon

The AirTag is one of the best item trackers available on the market, and it works by using a combination of Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband, and Apple’s FindMy network to function.

You set up the tracker by holding it next to your iPhone and waiting for a splash screen, just like with AirPods or an Apple Watch. After completing the instructions, it will be linked to your iCloud account and you can even name it. For instance, I have an AirTag on my keys named “Jacob’s Keys.”

Via the FindMy app on your iPhone, Mac, iPad, or even Apple Watch, you can ping a specific AirTag and see where it is on a map. With a newer iPhone that features Ultra Wideband technology, you can get real-time directions that lead you to the AirTag.

You’ll see directional arrows and distances marked on the screen to guide you to the item finder. Once near it, the AirTag will play a chime while your iPhone vibrates. It’s quite cool in action and makes finding your lost item a lot less stressful and chaotic.

The AirTag itself is about an inch wide and shaped like a circle. It’s mostly made of plastic with a stainless steel back that can be popped off to replace the battery. Yes, this is an Apple product with a user-replaceable battery that you can easily find. It’s powered by a CR2023 coin cell battery. 

While it might be small in size, the integrated speaker can chime pretty loudly. This is handy for having it ring while whatever you're looking for is stuck in-between couch cushions or at the bottom of a packed bag.

Additionally, the AirTag is durable, with an IP67 resistance rating against dust and water (which is the same as competitors like Tile Mate). This means it can be submerged for up to 30 minutes in water up to 0.5-meters deep. Essentially, it can survive a drop in the desert or even a quick dip in a pool... we just wouldn't recommend doing it on purpose. The one thing the AirTag doesn’t have is a built-in keyhole, so if you want to attach it to something like a bag or keys, you’ll need to get an accessory like a keychain holder.
