Asian Indoor Athletics Championships: Harmilan Bains and Jyothi Yarraji win gold medals
Harmilan Bains and Jyothi Yarraji won gold medals as India made a shining start to the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships 2024 on Saturday in Tehran. Harmilan Bains won gold in the women’s 1500m event with a timings of 4:29.55 seconds in the women’s 1500m final. Jyothi Yarraji registered a new national record and personal best to take gold in the women’s 60m hurdles with a timings of 8.12 seconds.
Shaili Singh and Nayana James also competed in the women’s long jump final in the morning session, but failed to get to podium positions, registering distances of 6.27m and 6.23m respectively. China’s Shiqi Xiong won gold with 6.50m jump while her fellow country athlete Tan Mengyi took silver medal with a distance of 6.50m. Hong Kong’s Yue Nga Yan (6.35m) won bronze medal.
