BCCI Files Unofficial Complaint To ICC After Rohit Sharma Suffers Injury Scare At Nets Before Pakistan Clash: Report

New York: The Indian team management has unofficially complained to the International Cricket Council (ICC) after captain Rohit Sharma was hit on the glove while batting at the nets during a training session, according to reports. The incident took place on Friday at the Cantiague Park when India’s Sri Lankan throwdown specialist Nuwan Seneviratne was bowling to him. Suddenly the ball took an awkward bounce and hit Rohit.

Although Rohit returned to practice a few moments later, but that wasn’t before he took some medication from the physio as the Indian captain looked in pain for some time.

This is not the first time, Rohit has been hit by the uneven bounce of the pitches in New York. In the game against Ireland, the Indian captain was hit on his shoulder by a rising delivery from Joshua Little. He felt pain immediately and left the field retired out. Not just Rohit, Rishabh Pant was also hit by the same bowler.

Meanwhile, the pitches in New York have been under severe criticism for their sluggish behaviour. The curators in New York have used drop-in pitches for the T20 World Cup 2024. Drop-in pitches are made away from the venue before being installed on side.

Meanwhile, ICC has issued a statement on the pitches. “T20 Inc and the ICC recognise that the pitches used so far at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium have not played as consistently as we would have all wanted,” ICC said in a statement.

“The world-class grounds team have been working hard since the conclusion of yesterday’s game to remedy the situation and deliver the best possible surfaces for the remaining matches,” he added.
