New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge felt sick and almost fainted when he was addressing a public rally in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday, 29 September 2024.

After getting better a bit, he said that he would now not die every time soon, “as a minimum now not prior to defeating Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

“We are going to without a doubt grant statehood and fight for it, in spite of what. I am now not going to leave it like this. I am eighty three-years-old, and I’m now not going to die so soon. I will stay alive until we take away Modi. I will hearken to you and fight for you,” said Congress president.

Kharge was addressing a rally in the Jasrota area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. His condition is now stable, said birthday celebration leaders.

He was admitted to a a health center in Kathua after he felt a bit bit ill while addressing a public meeting in Jasrota to pay tribute to a head constable killed in an anti-terror operation in Kathua. He was discharged after some time.

Congress leader Thakur Balbir Singh said that the Congress President felt suffocated brought on by extreme heat.

“He (Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge) felt suffocated brought on by extreme heat and still he completed his speech. He's going to take some rest after which leave for one more programme in Ramnagar,” he said.

After resuming his address, Kharge reassured the crowd that his health was fine and said that he was now not “going to die so early”.
