The sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election is underway in Delhi. Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) contesting the joined hands in Delhi to fight against BJP. In view of the LS polls several restrictions have been imposed on the polling day, including 48-hour ban on liquor sales.

Here is what is open and what is closed in Delhi on the polling day:

Liquor shops

In light of directives from the Election Commission of India, the Excise Department has mandated a temporary suspension of alcohol sales in Delhi and neighboring regions such as Faridabad and Gurgaon. This halt on liquor sales will commence on May 25th from 6:00 p.m. until evening the same day. However, it’s worth noting that these restrictions were already in effect as of 6:00 p.m., May 23rd. Moreover, there will be a total prohibition on alcohol sales on June 4th, coinciding with the announcement of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 results.

Delhi schools closed

In response to the severe heatwave, the government of Delhi has swiftly declared an onset of summer vacations, thus directing a closure of all schools, including private ones, in the capital city to ensure student safety.

Banks

Just to keep you updated, all the bank branches will remain closed on the fourth Saturday of this month, which happens to be May 25. Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India has made it clear that they’ve planned a bank holiday in certain cities specifically during the fifth phase.

Delhi Traffic advisory

Till now, the Delhi Traffic Police haven’t announced a specific traffic advisory tied to election day. However, looking back to an advisory from May 24th, it’s clear we can expect some traffic limitations due to the Lok Sabha Elections. These limitations are likely to last from 9:00 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening, particularly noticeable near the ITI Nand Nagri region in Delhi.
