'Different than usual': MotoGP riders on Buddh International Circuit track layout

On the eve of the MotoGP Bharat practice session, different MotoGP riders were quite enthused with the Buddh International Circuit. The new addition to the racing lineup has piqued their curiosity and hence, anticipation is building for the event. Some riders described it as intriguing, and there were quite a few who took out a bus to inspect the track. Others appreciated the mix of corners, while some found it to be a fun layout. They were quite enthusiastic and fans can expect a real treat.

Francesco Bagnaia, the defending champion and Ducati Lenovo Team rider, said, “I think the layout of the track is interesting. It’s nice and different compared to a lot of other tracks. So, I think it would be great.”

Jorge Martin of Prima Primac Racing, who had recently clinched victory at the San Marino Grand Prix, explored the track on a bus and bicycle in order to get acquainted with the settings. He was quite excited when he said, “I really like the layout. It will be really interesting. I’m so excited to go on the track, and I think, as Pego (Bagnaia) said, it’s a bit different to what we are used to. So, yeah, we’re looking forward to tomorrow.”

Marc Marquez, an eight-time world champion, who has had prior experience with the circuit, said that the track looked promising and that, he expects it to have a good grip come the race day.

The riders were not only impressed by the track itself but also the overall organisation. Marco Bezzecchi of Mooney VR46 Racing Team said that the facilities were well-organised, and the surroundings were extremely beautiful.

Brad Binder, the current record holder for the highest speed in MotoGP, cautiously evaluated the longest straight on his Red Bull KTM Factory Racing bike. He noted, “I don’t really know where the speed trap is, but also it’s quite downhill, which is cool. But then there’s a big kick on the end, so where it goes uphill there might kill the chances a little bit.”

Excitement has been building for MotoGP Bharat, and fans in India can watch the race on Sports18 channel and stream it live on JioCinema.
