Donald Trump says he will meet with PM Narendra Modi next week; ‘Modi is fantastic’

US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he's going to fulfill with Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week, news agency Reuters reported. Donald Trump announced the meeting at a campaign event in Flint, Michigan, while he became speaking about US trade with India. He gave no important points on where they would meet, the report added. PM Modi is “fantastic”, said Trump. “He happens to be coming to fulfill me next week,” Trump told the group but did no longer provide any to boot important points of their meeting.

PM Modi will visit the US from September 21 to 23 all by which he's going to take part in the Quad Summit and address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The Ministry’s programme listed best PM Modi’s participation in the Quad Summit in Delaware on Saturday, his speech to the Indian diaspora on Long Island on Sunday, and his address to the United Nations Summit of the Future on Monday.

It did no longer mention meeting with Trump but said, “On the sidelines of the Summit, the Prime Minister would be holding bilateral meetings with several world leaders and discuss problems with mutual interest.”

Trump calls India ‘very big abuser’ of trade ties with US

This comes after Trump said at a campaign event on Tuesday that India became a “very big abuser” of the US-India trade relationship. He said this on account of high duties it imposes on some imports from the US and said New Delhi “will likely be very tough” in negotiations.

“If anybody charges us 10 cents, in the event that they charge us $2, in the event that they charge us 100 per cent 250, we charge them the same,” he said.

Listing India among them, he said that countries the US became trading with are “the sharpest people. They’re no longer slightly bit backward … they’re at the end of their game, and that they use it against us”.

He added, “China is the toughest of all, but we were taking good care of China with the tariffs, so we’re going to do a reciprocal trade.”

Donald Trump and Narendra Modi shared a strong personal rapport for the duration of Trump’s presidency (2017-2021), evident in events such as the “Howdy Modi” rally in Houston and “Namaste Trump” in India.
