Israeli actor-singer Idan Amedi, best known for his work in the popular Netflix series ‘Fauda’ will be discharged from the hospital, days after he got injured while fighting as an Israel Defence Forces reservist against Hamas militants in Gaza. According to a statement issued on his behalf, he will be released from the hospital on Tuesday. Notably, it was when he was serving in the reserve combat engineering unit when he got injured after an explosion and was rendered unconscious for several days with shrapnel in his eyes, sockets, jaw, and neck.

In the meantime, the actor-singer will also hold a press conference at Tel Aviv’s Sheba Medical where he will answer questions for the first time regarding his reserve duty, injury, rehabilitation, and future plans. Further, he is likely to begin home rehabilitation post-discharge. 

Idan Amedi injured while fighting in Gaza

According to the Times of Israel, Idan Amedi, who joined the Israeli forces to fight against Hamas was seriously injured during the war. He was later airlifted to the hospital where he has been receiving treatment for several weeks now.

Later, the news was confirmed by his father following which his cousin earlier also took to social media, appealing for people to pay for his recovery. On the other hand, Israeli diplomat Avia Levi wrote on X, “Idan Amedi, one of Fauda’s actors, has been seriously injured in a battle in Gaza. We pray and pray for your speedy recovery.”

While he remained unconscious for several days, The Variety later confirmed that the actor came out of the surgery and gained consciousness. 

About Idan Amedi

Best known for playing agent Sagi Tzur in ‘Fauda’, a drama that revolves around an elite undercover team that tracks down plans to track down a notorious Palestinian terrorist. Amedi joined the cast in 2017.

Besides acting, he is also a popular singer and has recorded five albums since 2011. One of his popular songs ‘A Warrior’s Pain’ was one of Israel’s most popular songs in 2010. Amedi who was serving as a real-life IDF reservist in the combat engineering cops during his stint in the forces also shared videos of his experience.

Before his hospitalisation, a few videos of him giving interviews and also another one showing him participating in the bombing of a building in Gaza as an act of revenge had gone viral.
