Gaza War: Israeli politicians slam ICJ ruling on conflict with Hamas

Minister of Negev, Galilee, and National Resilience Yitzhak Wasserlauf seems to be ignoring the International Court of Justice’s decision to require Israel to take action to stop acts of genocide against the Palestinian people.

Wasserlauf, a member of the ultranationalist Otzma Yehudit party led by National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, tweeted in English, saying “Never Again” and using an Israeli flag emoji.

Ben Gvir’s public criticism of the court, which he labeled as “antisemitic,” came before his statement.

Earlier on Friday, in a startling first decision in South Africa’s legal challenge to Israel’s devastating military offensive in Gaza, the International Court of Justice on Friday acknowledged that there is a real possibility that Israel could commit genocide in the region and issued six orders requiring Israel to alter its tactics in its fight against the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, which is based in Gaza.

The United Nations’ top court’s decision to uphold the case signifies a significant shift in the international community’s pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his main foreign ally, President Joe Biden, to reverse their course.

Israel sought to persuade the justices to throw out the lawsuit by claiming the judges lacked jurisdiction and that Israel’s permission of restricted humanitarian aid for Gaza refuted charges of genocide. The White House called South Africa’s accusation “unfounded.
