New Delhi: In a matter of relief for the residents of Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), parts of New Delhi and Noida received heavy rainfall on Tuesday, 4th of September. The heavy downpour set off waterlogging in different parts of the city, with IMD predicting more downpour in the following couple of hours.

“Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by light thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 30 to forty km/ph, is intensely likely to occur across Delhi in the upcoming few hours,” the weather department said in its forecast.

Traffic Impacted Across Delhi NCR

Huge traffic snarls were seen in parts of Delhi, including in South, Central, North, New Delhi and parts of Noida and Gurugram.

Delhi’s humidity level became recorded at Eighty five per cent. The maximum temperature in the city is expected to settle at 35 degrees Celsius.

IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Delhi

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted most often cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thundershowers in the city for Wednesday. Meanwhile, the capital will remain below a ‘yellow’ alert for the following two days, per the Met.

In keeping with the IMD’s colour code, a ‘yellow’ alert warns people to “have in mind”, forecasting bad weather conditions that would worsen, potentially disrupting every single day life. On Monday, after a morning rain, the city recorded a high of 33.6 degrees Celsius.

On Tuesday, the maximum temperature rose three degrees higher. The humidity oscillated between eighty three per cent and 60 per cent at some point of the day, per weather data. The maximum and minimum temperatures on Wednesday are inclined to hover around 35 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively, the MeT said.

The 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi on Tuesday became recorded in the “satisfactory” category with a reading of 88 at four pm, per the Central Pollution Regulate Board. An AQI between zero and 50 is believed about “good”, fifty one and One hundred “satisfactory”, 100 and one and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and five hundred “severe”.
