Rajat Kaul On Rape Scene of Mallikajaan

Bhansali’s period drama instantly caught the viewers’ attention, right from the sets to numerous Bollywood and TV actors. Asking his views about the controversial scene Rajat shares his point of view. He says, “If we talk about the scene, one should know the timeline. It is not relatable in the present. The story is based in the 1920s, it was a different world back then. It is not great to talk about, it is not good to think about it. It shows how Britishers have ruined our culture.” He further believes that the particular scene is a ‘cinematic element’ of the series.

In Heeramandi, Iqbal’s screen time was mostly with Mallikajaan, Saima (played by Shruti Sharma), and Satto and Phatto. We asked him how his bonds were with Satto and Phatto. Rajat says, “We had unsaid bonds, we constantly giggle on sets. Phatto (played by Jayati Bhatia) used to call me Balli all the time off the camera as well. It was amazing working with them. I felt that Balli was like their son in the period drama. They took care of me, when, Saima left and I returned from jail. It was amazing collaborating with Satto (Nivedita Bhargava) and Phatto. Even though we didn’t have much to talk about, we gave each other loads of jhappi.”
