Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s masterpiece Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar was finally released on Netflix on May 1, 2024. The series has a star-studded cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydrai, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal, Richa Chaddha, Shruti Sharma and others. While all other actors have established their feet in the industry, Shruti Sharma, who portrayed the role of Saima in the series is gaining attraction from the audience for her performance. However, do you know that Shruti was once mocked on national television for her appearance?

Yes, you read that right! A post on Reddit is making the rounds on the internet, featuring a co-contestant of Shruti Sharma from the dance reality show India’s Next Superstar, who makes derogatory remarks about her physique, highlighting that she did not fit the stereotypical image of a slim and glamorous actress. However, what won the hearts of the audience was Shruti’s graceful response, as she focused more on the importance of honing skills than conforming to societal beauty standards.

Actor Kangana Rananut, who was one of the judges in that show, came in support of Shruti. Kangana asked Shruti to enhance her craft and not to focus on such comments. The actor said, “Jo apki sadgi hai aur jo apki personality hai apko kisi ke liye change nahi karni hai. Apko bas apni kala ko badhana hai aur skill ko badhana hai aur aap jaisi hain bahot aachi hain.”

Shruti Sharma’s transition from television to the digital platform has been remarkable. Despite encountering challenges and criticisms, she demonstrated resilience, refining her skills and landing a role in Heeramandi.
