How Alia Bhatt's Filmfare win turned out to be a 'PR nightmare' & she bore the brunt of 'non-deserving' tag | Explained

Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt started the year on a golden note after winning the Filmfare Best Actress award for her performance as Rani Chatterjee in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Alia Bhatt won the award after beating actresses Bhumi Pednekar (Thank You For Coming), Deepika Padukone (Pathaan), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway), Kiara Advani (Satyaprem Ki Katha), and Taapsee Pannu (Dunki) in the particular category.

However, it seems like fans weren’t quite happy with the nominations and the Filmfare win, as the Bollywood actress was heavily trolled for receiving the award and even faced criticism for bad PR. While many demanded her to return the Filmfare award, some also compared Alia’s performance with other nominees, stating that Taapsee Pannu and Rani Mukerji had performed a lot better in their respective films.

That being said, now a popular Instagram page Bollywood Garima Kumar has shared a video clip, breaking down how Alia Bhatt’s Filmfare stint turned into a PR nightmare. According to the video, fans were seen calling out Filmfare for being biased towards the nominations and also for the awards being rigged.
