According to FlightAware, over 400 flights have been canceled across Florida's main airports. As of Thursday morning, Tampa International Airport had 216 flights canceled alone.
Hurricane Helene is bearing down on Florida’s Big Bend region, with the National Hurricane Center predicting it will make landfall as an impressive Category Four storm, packing winds of up to 132 mph. Even before reaching the coast, the storm has disrupted travel significantly. Over 1,200 flights across the U.S. have been canceled or delayed as a consequence of the upcoming hurricane, per a Reuters report.
By eleven:Fifty nine AM ET on Thursday, FlightAware recorded 1,038 cancellations and 1,672 delays. Southwest Airlines canceled the foremost flights, with 201 cancellations, followed by American Airlines and Delta Air Lines. Major airports in Florida, including Tampa International, Orlando International, and Fort Lauderdale International, have warned travelers of potential disruptions.
American Airlines, JetBlue, and Southwest have issued travel advisories for airports within the Southeastern U.S. and Gulf of Mexico regions.

- Southwest Florida International Airport near Fort Myers is open but notes the following airlines have canceled morning flights and advises travelers to examine with their airlines: American, United, Air Canada, Breeze, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit, Sun U . s . a . and WestJet
