Australia are the undisputed champions of the ODI format, having won the World Cup five times out of 12, and are once again being seen as the favourites for the title. Apart from boasting some of the best batters and bowlers in David Warner, Steve Smith, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, Australia are also loaded with all-rounders like Mitch Marsh, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell, who not only provide depth to the side but are well capable of winning matches on their own.

However, having lost to South Africa and India recently, there are a few concerns about their form but given their history of performing well in World Cups more often than not, it would be unwise to bet against the Aussies in an ICC mega event.

World Cup recap: Australia were the losing finalist in the first edition of the Cricket World Cup in 1975 and after that, it took them some time to play their best cricket in a mega event but their title victory in 1987 in India was the start of something special — a World Cup domination that has made them the most successful side in the history of the tournament.

In fact, they are the only team to win three World Cup titles on a trot. In 1999, 2003, and 2007. They also won in 2015 and were the losing finalists in 1996 and reached the semi-finals in 2019.

They will now look to add a sixth World Cup title to their cabinet.
