India vs England: 'Will connect with him and find out', Rahul Dravid on Virat Kohli's availability for remaining Tests

The uncertainty around Virat Kohli’s return to the Team India for the remaining three Tests against England continues, but head coach Rahul Dravid feels that the national selectors would have a better idea on Kohli with the squad for the upcoming matches to be announced in the next few days. Kohli had missed the first two Tests against England due to personal reasons, with some reports stating that Kohli had flown out of the country. However, former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers seemed to confirm that Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were expecting a second child.

“I think it’s best to ask the selectors. I am sure they are the best people to answer ahead of the team selection for the next three Tests. We will get to that. I am sure there will be selection over the next few days. We will connect with him and find out,” Dravid said at the post-match press conference in Vizag on Monday.

“Yes, his second child is on the way. It’s family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that. Yes, we miss him. But he has made absolutely the right decision,” AB de Villiers had said a couple of days back.

After suffering a 28-run loss to England in the first Test in Hyderabad, India bounced back to clinch a 106-run win over Ben Stokes and Co in the second Test in Vizag on Monday. Yashasvi Jaiswal (209 in first innings), Shubman Gill (104 in second innings) and Jasprit Bumrah (9/91 in match) were the standout performers for the hosts.

The third Test will be held in Rajkot from 15 February.
