“Dharamsala was a great game but when you get into finals, things change. Every game is a tricky one, any team can beat anyone. For us, it’s great to reach finals and start again. India have been exceptional. One of the best teams going around,” Williamson said.

Kane Williamson speaks about his injury-plagued journey in World Cup

"Yeah, yeah, an interesting journey for sure, from sort of it not being a chance to getting close and it becoming a reality and something to target, and certainly feeling really grateful to be here. And then to get back and then break my thumb [laughs]. It's not funny. No, it was quite frustrating and testing but still feeling that it hadn't ruled me out so I still was grateful for that and it's nice to be fitter than perhaps I was yesterday and be sitting here. So personally, it's great to be here and it's nice to be a part of this tournament. These tournaments are special and world events in India certainly add to that."

India captain Rohit Sharma not bothered about the past

“That’s the beauty of this team. We weren’t even born when we won the World Cup in 1983. Half of them were not playing when we won in 2011. I don’t see them talking about how we won our previous World Cups," he said on the eve of the match.

“The focus is on how we can get better and how we can improve. That’s the beauty of the current crop of players. From game number one, the focus is to win today.”
