Kane Williamson fires warning to India

“Dharamsala was a great game but when you get into finals, things change. Every game is a tricky one, any team can beat anyone. For us, it’s great to reach finals and start again. India have been exceptional. One of the best teams going around,” Williamson said.

Kane Williamson speaks about his injury-plagued journey in World Cup

"Yeah, yeah, an interesting journey for sure, from sort of it not being a chance to getting close and it becoming a reality and something to target, and certainly feeling really grateful to be here. And then to get back and then break my thumb [laughs]. It's not funny. No, it was quite frustrating and testing but still feeling that it hadn't ruled me out so I still was grateful for that and it's nice to be fitter than perhaps I was yesterday and be sitting here. So personally, it's great to be here and it's nice to be a part of this tournament. These tournaments are special and world events in India certainly add to that."

India captain Rohit Sharma not bothered about the past

“That’s the beauty of this team. We weren’t even born when we won the World Cup in 1983. Half of them were not playing when we won in 2011. I don’t see them talking about how we won our previous World Cups," he said on the eve of the match.

“The focus is on how we can get better and how we can improve. That’s the beauty of the current crop of players. From game number one, the focus is to win today.”

Wankhede Stadium Pitch Report

The Mumbai stadium pitch is known for assisting pacers and having good carry but generally it has assisted the batters the most. High scores are regular at Wankhede, however, batting second won't be easy despite dew. The sea breeze assists swing in second innings and that is a big problem while playing under lights.

Mumbai Weather Forecast

The chances of rain are zero so we can be relaxed. Cloud cover however is expected to be around 80% percent in the daytime. The temperatures will hover between 32 to 16 Degree Celsius. Dew is expected in the second innings.

India vs New Zealand LIVE Score, World Cup 2023 Semi-final: The day of reckoning is here. India have never defeated New Zealand in a knockout match of an ICC event but they have to do it on Wednesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai if they have to reach the final at home. If New Zealand have history on their side then India have form. Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue won all nine matches in the group stage including a victory over New Zealand to reach the semis. They will now hope to continue the winning momentum as they look to win the World Cup for the first time since 2011 when the tournament was last hosted in the country.

Another block for India is their poor knockout record overall as they have lost eight knockout matches in ICC events since 2013 and have not won a world title in 10 years. India captain Rohit Sharma, however, is not worried about the past.

“That’s the beauty of this team. We weren’t even born when we won the World Cup in 1983. Half of them were not playing when we won in 2011. I don’t see them talking about how we won our previous World Cups,” he said on the eve of the match.

“The focus is on how we can get better and how we can improve. That’s the beauty of the current crop of players. From game number one, the focus is to win today.”

While for India it’s about becoming World Champion once again, for New Zealand it’s about continuing what has made them this consistent force in world cricket. They reached the finals of 2015 and 2019 ODI World CUps and will hope to do the same in 2023.
