India vs South Africa 3rd ODI toss: South Africa win the toss, and skipper Aiden Markram opts to field. While the Proteas opt for an unchanged XI, India make two changes to their side — handing a debut to Rajat Patidar, who replaces the injured Ruturaj Gaikwad, while Washington Sundar replaces Kuldeep Yadav.

Captain speak:

Aiden Markram: Looks like a really good wicket. Can’t see it changing too much over 100 overs. Hopefully we can bowl well and restrict them to a chaseable total. It’s a bit hot here but luckily they are up for it. Opportunity for us to replicate things we did well. We’re playing the same team.

KL Rahul: It looks like a good wicket. Will stay true throughout the game. We need to play good cricket and put runs on the board. (Collapse at Gqeberha) That’s something we need to get better at. Once we get a start, make it count. Looks like a good wicket, not something we got in the last two games. Rajat Patidar gets his first game, Rutu (Gaikwad) has done some damage to his finger. Kuldeep gets a rest and Washington comes in.

Teams:

South Africa: Tony de Zorzi, Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram (c), Heinrich Klaasen (wk), David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Keshav Maharaj, Nandre Burger, Lizaad Williams, Beuran Hendricks

India: Rajat Patidar, Sai Sudharsan, Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson (wk), KL Rahul (c), Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar

India vs South Africa 3rd ODI preview: India and South Africa are set for a showdown in Paarl on Thursday with the series level at 1-1.

India won the opening game of the series by a comfortable margin of eight wickets after bundling the Proteas out for 116, with Arshdeep Singh (5/37) collecting a five-for and debutant Sai Sudharsan (55 not out) scoring a half-century on international debut.

Sai Sudharsan (62) would collect a second consecutive fifty in Gqeberha on Tuesday during the second ODI, but this time wouldn’t receive much support from his teammates barring captain KL Rahul (56) as India were bowled out for 211.

Opener Tony de Zorzi (119 not out) would then lead the way with his maiden international hundred as the Proteas chased the target down in a canter, pulling off an identical eight-wicket win.

The second ODI, incidentally, took place on the same day as the IPL auction, and the match was in progress when players were getting sold to the franchises at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Seamer Nandre Burger helped bowl India out for a sub-par total with a haul of 3/30 and his efforts led to the Rajasthan Royals noticing the player and getting him for Rs 50 lakh.
