India vs South Africa: 'Intra-squad is a joke', Gavaskar slams visitors for lack of practice matches before Test series
Team India suffered an innings defeat to South Africa in the first Test in Centurion on Thursday, a loss that has received criticism from several experts including Sunil Gavaskar. Sunil Gavaskar has questioned Rohit Sharma and Co’s lack of preparations for the marquee series, terming the intra-squad as a “joke”. Gavaskar also suggested that India ‘A’ play their matches before the main team does in order for the players to gain more exposure to the conditions.

Rohit Sharma and Co faltered in Centurion as they lost to South Africa by an innings and 32 runs in the first Test in Centurion on Thursday. The loss meant that the wait for a maiden Test series win for India in South Africa extended further.
Indian batters, barring KL Rahul (101) in the first innings, and Virat Kohli (76) in the second innings, put up a disappointed performance with a majority of the batters failing to convert starts into big knocks. Lack of practice matches had been a concern for the visitors leading upto the series.
