India women vs Australia Highlights, 2nd T20I: Aussies level series with 6-wicket win

Toss report: Australia won the toss, and skipper Alyssa Healy opted to field in a must-win second T20I against India at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium on Sunday.

While Australia brought pacer Kim Garth in place of Darcie Brown, the Indians opted to retain the XI that won them the series opener by a dominant nine-wicket margin.

India had suffered a 0-3 ODI series sweep at the hands of the might Australians but bounced back in style in the T20I series opener by outshining the Aussies in all departments. Pacer Titas Sadhu shone with figures of 4/17 that helped India bowl Australia out for 141 while half-centuries from Shafali Verma (64 not out) and Smriti Mandhana helped the Women in Blue chase the target down with nine wickets and more than two overs to spare.

The upbeat Indian team, who had put up a much better fielding display in the first T20I to keep Australia’s run flow in check, will hope to seal the series with a game to spare on Sunday.

The match also happens to be star all-rounder Ellyse Perry’s 300th international match. Perry, who had also represented Australia in the 2011 FIFA World Cup, will be making her 147th T20I appearance on Sunday besides 141 ODIs and 12 Tests in an international career that began in 2007.
