Thomas Bach, IOC president addresses the crowd. He congratulates India on the countrt's historic feat in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, where the nayion won a record 107 medals. 

"India is a country on the rise, in so many ways, respects, including in Olympic Sports," says Bach in his address. 

"The Olympic Games of 2024 will be the last Games of the pre-AI era," adds Bach, stressing on the importance of artifical intelligence.

Hello and welcome to our LIVE coverage of the opening ceremony of the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session that will be held in Mumbai from 15 October to 17 October. The opening ceremony will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be attended by famous sporting personalties like Neeraj Chopra and Abhinav Bindra. 

IOC Session Opening Ceremony Highlights: The opening ceremony of the 141st International Olympic Committee Session (IOC) to be held in Mumbai, will take place at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) on Saturday.

The IOC Session, returning to India after 40 years, will be held at the Jio World Convention Centre from 15 October to 17 October.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the opening ceremony, that will also be attended by famous sporting personalities like Abhinav Bindra, Neeraj Chopra and PR Sreejesh.

Actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone are among the film celebrities who will be attending the opening ceremony.

Important decisions on the possibility of India hosting Summer Olympic Games in the future are set to be on the agenda of the three-day meeting.
