IPL Auctions 2024: Punjab Kings retained players, current squad, purse amount, remaining slots

Punjab Kings is among the teams that have retained a majority of their squad, releasing just five players. The most prominent of those releases however, are Shahrukh Khan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

Shahrukh’s release is especially surprising since the Tamil Nadu batter had developed his finishing skills to a great extent last season and his performances would have warranted him a more long-term role as part of the team’s core.

SRK had collected 156 runs across 14 games, but the fact that those runs came lower down the order, mostly at the latter stage of the innings and with a strike rate of 165.96 is what makes him valuable an entity for any team and one wonders if Chennai Super Kings might be interested in lapping him up during the auction now that he has been added to the auction pool.

Rajapaksa, who was last seen in action for St Lucia Kings during the Caribbean Premier League in September, made four appearances throughout the season and didn’t have much of an impact other than a half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mohali.

Punjab Kings remaining slots: PBKS have 17 players in the squad which includes six overseas players. It means they have space for eight more players including two overseas.

Punjab Kings purse remaining: PBKS have spent Rs. 70.9 crore on their current squad. They have Rs 29.1 crore still to spend.
