South Africa haven’t enjoyed a great time in UAE so a huge distance, losing their three-match ODI series against Afghanistan last week 2-1. Alternatively, they are going to look to improve and begin their two-match T20I series against Ireland on a winning note when either side face off in the primary T20I match on the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday (September 27).

The Irish team were last seen in action at some point of the T20 World Cup 2024 in June this year. The South African team have never lost to Ireland in the 5 matches between two sides and the Proteas will look to continue their winning run.

SA skipper Aiden Markram has been going through a lean patch, scoring most effective one fifty this year in all formats – the Sixty 9 he scored in the 1/3 ODI against Afghanistan last week. “I mean, it’s all just cricket, in reality. You're ready to feel nearly as good as you should have and no longer score runs, and that’s just the nature of the beast, unfortunately,” Markram told reporters prior to the primary T20I match.

“Some challenging wickets on the World Cup, but all in all, been feeling quite good with bat in hand. Obviously, became nice to get some runs in the last ODI, but quite a lot of the time I just measure form as to how an even deal I may make a contribution to my team winning games and no longer necessarily the amount of runs that I’m scoring. So that’s what I’m going to take with me moving forward, and with any success, I may score some runs so that the team is in a great position and can win games are cricket,” he added.
