Is Ranbir Kapoor's Animal reason for CBFC CEO Ravinder Bhakar's removal? Source says 'How a film so steeped in abuse...'

The CEO of the Censor Board of Film Certification Ravinder Bhakar has been removed from his position and Smita Vats Sharma has now taken charge. Actor Vishal levied severe corruption charges against the board ahead of the release of his film Mark Antony. And a source has told Times Now Bhakar’s removal also has to do something with Ranbir Kapoor’s recent blockbuster Animal.

A source told the publication, “Questions are being raised as to how a film so steeped in violence and abuse and so unapologetically misogynistic could be allowed a censor certificate. Animal breaks many guidelines of censorship. Giving an A certificate and not cutting those objectionable scenes of violence, especially against women, is now raging a controversy in the nation and within the I&B ministry.” The source added that Bhaskar’s was the first head to roll and more are likely to follow.

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Bobby Deol, while talking about the volatile content of the film, said, “I’m an actor who’s looking for different characters; we are entertainers and we don’t promote any kind of such things. I’m a part of a story that’s a reflection of what’s happening in the society. You can’t make up all these things, they exist in our society, every film is a reflection of something that’s happening around.”

Ranbir Kapoor is Hindi cinema’s most adorable man-child. He has mastered the art of combining anger, fury, naïveté, and the futility of growing up. In Animal, he’s a crybaby trapped in an angry young man’s body. He breaks bones, fires machine guns, cheats on his wife, but all for his father he adores. He’s a family man thrown into a discomforting world. The trailer did the trick and so did the theme.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga has unleashed all the violence he wanted to and this is just part one. It’s not over until it’s over. And this blockbuster is all set to be the next 500-crore grosser of Hindi cinema.
