Janhvi Kapoor Loves What Uorfi Javed Wears, Says ‘Her Method Dressing…’

Janhvi Kapoor is all set to captivate the audience with her upcoming film Mr and Mrs Mahi. On Sunday (May 5, 2024), the makers of the film unveiled the trailer, which received a massive positive response. As Janhvi is currently promoting the film, she praised Uorfi Javed for her unique dressing style in one of the interviews. Janhvi Kapoor surprised fans by taking charge of her own styling for the promotions of Mr. & Mrs. Mahi.

The actor jokingly admits this isn’t entirely new territory, having styled her family and friends for some time now. While citing Zendaya and social media star Uorfi Javed as inspirations for their creativity, Janhvi also acknowledges Alia Bhatt’s influence on her approach to “method dressing.”

“Uorfi, Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy, and even Alia during Gangubai Kathiawadi and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani did such a great job and did it so beautifully. That not only had a recall value for their films but also brought the attention back to their films,” Janhvi said.

Janhvi added, “I am having fun with it. I love dressing up. It feels like working on a school assignment, so I am treating it like that (laughs). My stylist and I are sitting together on each look and accessory. I don’t know how much it will help the film, but I’m happy that it has become a little bit of a talking point.”

According to Janhvi, this marks her second time dressing up with the theme of her film in mind. The first time was for her debut film Dhadak. Janhvi further elaborates, “Every time there’s a film coming out, the makers and the team always tell us to dress similarly to our characters. I did that in Dhadak and then realized that there’s a fair amount of attention on how all of us actors dress and look, and that becomes a talking point. Method dressing is just one more trope.”

Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Mahi is an upcoming film that revolves around love, romance, and aspiring dreams of becoming a cricketer. The movie is helmed by Sharan Sharma and will hit the big screens on May 31.
