MI have three remaining matches and giving Bumrah rest would help him recharge his batteries and get fresh ahead of the much-awaited T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies. Bumrah, given his experience and stature, would be key to India’s fortunes at that event and hence giving him a breather could augur well for the national side.
In IPL 2024, Bumrah has been unstoppable. He has picked up 17 wickets in 11 games. His economy is less than seven, which is surreal. Despite his good show, MI are languishing at the bottom of the table.
Mumbai has a razor-thin advantage, with a close 11-10 lead in the head-to-head matchups. The last time these two teams met in Hyderabad on March 27, MI suffered a 31-run loss.
