Karan Patel says 'Not even Shah Rukh Khan can be bigger than his films,' as he recalls his struggles

Actor Karan Patel, while interacting with Pinkvilla recently, spoke about his early success and the struggles that followed. He said no actor can be bigger than the medium, citing the example of Shah Rukh Khan.

He said, “So I thought I’d become too big for my boots and I was a superstar with TV shows. Only to have the show (Kasturi) shut and then realize that nobody can be spared and nobody is bigger than the medium. Not even Khan saab (Shah Rukh Khan) can be bigger than his films, and a newcomer cannot be bigger than whatever project he’s working on.”

Karan, who began his career with daily soap Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, was also playing the male lead opposite Divyanka Tripathi in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.

The film’s plot revolves around Indians using an illegal backdoor route called ‘Donkey Flight‘ to immigrate to countries like Canada and the USA.
