Karnataka's Prakhar Chaturvedi breaks Yuvraj Singh's 25-year record with majestic 404 not out in Cooch Behar final
Karnataka’s Prakhar Chaturvedi made headlines with his staggering innings of 404 not out against Mumbai in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy final.
With his unbeaten knock during which he consumed 636 deliveries, Chaturvedi broke a long-standing record for the highest individual score in the Cooch Behar final, which had previously been held by Indian legend Yuvraj Singh.
Yuvraj had smashed 358 for Punjab against Bihar, which had a certain MS Dhoni in its ranks, in the 1999 final and the record had stood ever since, until Chaturvedi became the first to breach the 400-barrier on Monday.
The highest individual score in India’s premier U-19 domestic event is Vijay Zol’s 451 not out for Maharashtra against Assam in 2011-12.
Chaturvedi’s epic effort included 46 fours and three sixes.
