Lord’s To Host World Test Championship Final For First Time From June 11 to 15, Confirms ICC

Dubai: The iconic Lord’s will host the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the first time from June 11 to 15 next year, thus marking the end of 2023-25 cycle, the International Cricket Council announced on Tuesday. The ICC has also kept June 16 as a Reserve Day, if required. The WTC finals within the previous two editions happened in Southampton (2021) and the Oval (2023).

India featured in both finals, but lost to New Zealand (2021) within the inaugural match and Australia (2023). “The ICC World Test Championship Final has quickly transform one among the foremost anticipated events within the cricketing calendar and we're pleased to announce the dates for the 2025 edition,” said ICC CEO Geoff Allardice in an announcement.

Currently, Rohit Sharma’s India are sitting in pole position before reigning champions Australia. India will face the Aussies in an away five-match series later this year within the race to the WTC Final. Nevertheless, New Zealand (third), England (fourth), Sri Lanka (fifth), South Africa (sixth) and Bangladesh (seventh) are still in contention for a place within the one-off decider next year. Nevertheless, Pakistan suffered a large setback as Bangladesh inflicted a nil-2 defeat on them within the just-concluded two-match home series.
