Rajkot: In a shocking accident, 27 people were killed, including 9 children and three were injured, in a fire that erupted at a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujrat, on Saturday. As per the current reports, fire tenders were rushed to the location immediately after the reported fire and rescue operations are still underway.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief at the incident in a X post. He said, “The fire tragedy has saddened us all. In my telephone conversation with him a while ago, Gujarat CM Bhupendrabhai Patel Ji told me about the efforts underway to ensure all possible assistance is provided to those who have been affected.

Gujrat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has announced the financial aid of Rs 4 Lakh to the families of deceased and Rs 50 thousand to the injured.

Earlier, Police Commissioner, Rajkot, Raju Bhargava, was quoted saying in a report by news agency ANI. “We are trying to retrieve as many bodies as possible. As of now, 20 bodies have been recovered and they have been sent to the hospital for further  investigation,”

The Rajkot Commissioner further added that the police will be registering an offence for negligence and the deaths which have occurred.

The fire erupted at a temporary structure at the TRP game zone owned by a person called Yuvraj Singh Solanki. The children are also among the victims who were present at the location in large numbers because of the ongoing summer vacation.

On fire in Rajkot’s game zone, BJP MLA Darshita Shah says, “A very sad incident has happened in Rajkot today. This is the first time in the history of Rajkot that children have lost their lives due to a fire in a game zone. The rescue team is trying its best to save as many people as possible. The government will take action on the matter but right now the priority is to save as many people as possible …”

CM Bhupendra Patel has also instructed the city administration to carry out immediate rescue and relief operations at the game zone. “Instructions have been given to the Municipal Corporation and the administration for immediate rescue and relief operations in the fire incident in the game zone in Rajkot. It has been instructed to prioritise arrangements for immediate treatment of the injured,” Patel posted on X.

On fire incident at TRP game zone, Fire Station Officer RA Joban says, ” We cannot say anything about the exact number… We are bringing down bodies from both sides… The search operation is underway…”
