Masters of the Air: Why Austin Butler & Callum Turner's show is a must-watch?

After long anticipation, Austin Butler and Callum Turner starrer Masters of the Air recently released on Apple TV+ and emerged as one of the most loved shows across the globe. While the mini-series continues to garner accolades from the audience, we give you major reasons to watch this impactful story on Apple TV+.

Perfectly captures the essence of World War II

The miniseries, which comprised nine episodes, focuses ‘Bloody Hundredth’ group who played a significant role during the Second World War and their contribution turned out to be a game-changer. Apart from Austin Butler and Callum Turner, the show also features Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa in prominent roles. The show narrates the story of America’s Bomber Boys who fought the air war against Nazi Germany between 1942 to 1945.

It is inspired by the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, who collected the testimonies of the survivors of the “Bloody Hundredth” to tell their story.

The first four instalments are directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (No Time to Die), followed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Captain Marvel), Dee Rees (Mudbound) and Tim Van Patten (Game of Thrones).

Produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, it is written by biographer Don Miller. “I don’t think you’ll find combat anywhere in history as intense as these air fights,” says the author of the book. “You’re in an aluminium tube so thin a guy with a screwdriver could punch a hole in it. German (fighter pilots) would aim for the pilot and co-pilot, and a lot of pilots were beheaded by gunfire,” he added. The first episode of Masters of the Air streamed on 26th January.
