Chennai: Former South African speedster Morne Morkel stated that the Indian bowling setup sort of operates by itself and it’s his responsibility to toughen them as a coach. The 39-year-old became appointed as the bowling coach of the Indian national team and joined his first training session on the Chepauk stadium in Chennai, prematurely of both-match Test series against Bangladesh starting next week.

Morkel, who once tormented the Indian batters together with his percent and swing, became seen having a lengthy time with fast bowler Akash Deep on the nets earlier than joining senior pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. After both Tests against Bangladesh, India will face New Zealand and Australia.

Any coaching job with the Indian team comes with high expectations and Morkel is well privy to that. “I know there may be expectations of winning and fortunately I in actual fact have experienced that in my playing days. I may share that knowledge,” Morkel told BCCI videos after donning the Indian jersey for the first time.

“After I was once setting the plan, I reflected upon that we're so lucky to have quality senior players. The senior players lead the charge. It’s our responsibility to toughen them. Just give them the ideal sort of recommendation we're ready to present. It’s a collection-up that sort of operates by itself. So that you may offer protection to that and better it be the goal,” he added.

Reacting to his first reaction after getting a call from BCCI, Morkel admitted he often is often referred to as his father first. The previous pacer often is often referred to as it a special moment and is asking forward to the role. “I sat for five minutes within the room reflecting on it. I first spoke to my dad, didn’t go to my wife.

“Most often they are saying go to your wife, but I went to talk over with dad. Been a cricket fan for years and knowing what’s going to come is rather a special moment. I enjoyed it for approximately 5 to seven minutes by myself and then shared with my family in regards to the chance,” Morkel said.
