New Delhi: Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni is arguably one of the most followed cricketers in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. Under his leadership, CSK won the title five times which is joint most by an IPL franchise.

In the recently concluded IPL match between CSK and GT, Dhoni was seen receiving treatment for a back niggle after his batting and now there are chances that he will miss the upcoming clash against Rajasthan Royals which will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk). A video of CSK 42-year-old wicketkeeper batter is going viral where he was seen sitting applying a medicinal belt around his waist, followed by one of the CSK physios giving him a back massage. Here is the clip:

In the recently concluded match against GT, Dhoni played 11 balls and scored 26* runs but CSK lost that match by 35 runs.

Earlier, Chennai coach Stephen Fleming revealed that MS Dhoni is not battling any fresh injury concerns and admitted that he had a muscle issue before the start of the IPL 2024 campaign.

“We’re managing his workload. It’s risky, and we’ve seen that early on in the season with a little bit of muscle injury, that if he bats too long, we run the risk of losing him. So we’re trying to find that balance where he can have an impact on the match by just hitting sixes and fours, which he’s done pretty well and keep as well as some of the best in the competition, if not the best in the competition,” Flemming said.

The Super Kings are currently fourth in the standings with 12 points from as many games but the defeat against Gujarat Titans on Friday has added dollops of pressure on them, and now they need victory in their remaining two matches.

The Royals, on the other hand, are second with 16 points but they are smarting from two successive defeats against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which was by just a run, and Delhi Capitals.

They are in no real danger of missing the playoff spot, but the Sanju Samson-led side will be eager to return to the winning ways at the earliest and enter the knockouts.
