Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni quit international cricket more than four years back on August 15, 2020. Alternatively the ex-captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has carried on his career in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Now before the IPL 2025 mega auction later this year, the question on everybody’s mind is whether or not ‘Thala’ Dhoni will choose to continue for another season.

If Dhoni does choose to finish his IPL career, he has numerous lucrative options in leagues for retired international cricketers. Thought of one of them is the Legends League Cricket (LLC), so as to start off a new season from Friday (September 20).

Dhoni’s former teammate and ‘Mr IPL’ Suresh Raina became asked when can his fans see the previous CSK skipper in the LLC. Raina, who may possibly be leading the  Toyam Hyderabad team in LLC 2024, hinted that the league’s bosses will likely be in talks with Dhoni already.

“I would like to appear him, to be honest. You ask the bosses. They could well be talking to him at some point,” Raina said at a press meet on Tuesday.

When asked if he like to bring Dhoni to his team if the latter joins LLC, Raina joked that every one the eight teams may possibly be after the India big name.

CSK team management are attempting their best to get clarity on the collection of retentions that each franchise will get before the IPL 2025 mega auction. Dhoni’s future in the IPL will place self assurance in the collection of retentions allowed by the Board of Keep watch over for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The other former CSK player Ambati Rayudu said that BCCI should allow retention of more players before IPL 2025 season. In the last mega auction held in 2022, the IPL teams were permitted to retain as much as four players. With the end of the three-year cycle drawing near, there are differing opinions among franchises in regards to the optimal collection of retained players.
