North Korea’s Kim Jong Un Speeds Up Nuclear Production To ‘Cope With Enemies Reckless Confrontation’

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has issued a directive to expedite the production process to enhance the country’s nuclear capabilities. This decision came on the same day when he supervised a test involving tactical ballistic missiles equipped with a new guidance system, as reported by state media KCNA on Saturday. During his visit to an arms factory on Friday, Kim instructed the acceleration of production to counter the perceived threat of adversaries engaging in provocative military actions. The primary objective behind this move is to strengthen North Korea’s nuclear deterrence capabilities, as highlighted by KCNA.

Kim emphasized that by ramping up production, North Korea aims to instill fear in its enemies regarding the country’s nuclear combat readiness. This strategic approach is intended to deter any potential military aggression against North Korea. Kim made the production order “to cope with …the enemies’ reckless military confrontation” and bolster nuclear war deterrence, KCNA said.

Following the production order, North Korea conducted a series of launches involving short-range ballistic missiles towards the sea along its east coast on Friday, as confirmed by South Korea’s military. Kim expressed contentment with the outcome of the missile test, particularly praising the autonomous navigation system’s performance, according to KCNA.

The missile launches coincided with joint military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea, which involved the deployment of stealth fighter jets to simulate air combat scenarios. These drills were conducted a day before North Korea’s missile tests, reflecting the ongoing military tensions in the region.
