Pakistan broke a number of World Cup records as they chased down the target of 345 to beat Sri Lanka in the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup on Tuesday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Abdullah Shafique (113) and Mohammad Rizwan (131 not out) smashed centuries as Pakistan clinched their first win at the ODI World Cup.

— Pakistan chased down 345 runs to set the record for the highest successful chase in the history of the men’s ODI World Cup. Ireland held the previous record with 328 against England in the 2011 World Cup.

— 4 batters scored centuries on Tuesday in the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka game. Apart from Shafique and Rizwan, Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama also scored hundreds. This is the first time four individual hundreds were scored in a men’s ODI World Cup match.

— Shafique is the first Pakistan batter to score a century in a men’s ODI World Cup debut. Mohsin Khan’s 82 against Sri Lanka at the 1983 World Cup was the previous best for Pakistan.

— Mendis took 65 balls to complete his century which is the fastest for Sri Lanka in men’s ODI World Cups. The previous best was Kumar Sangakkara’s 70-ball ton against England in 2015.
