Pawan Kalyan Breaks Silence on Working in Movies Despite Being Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister: ‘I Will Shoot Films Only When…’

Pawan Kalyan has always enthralled his fans with his movies. Kalyan recently became the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. With this, his fans are pretty worried about whether Kalyan will continue working in the cinema industry. To clarify the confusion, the Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi star, during a public meeting in his home constituency, Pithapuram, said he will continue making films after becoming the Deputy Chief Minister.

During the meeting, a section of the people, who happened to be the actor’s fans, began chanting his name and addressing him as ‘OG.’ The actor was asked, “OG? Do you think I’ll have the time to make films?” Answering the question, the actor said he wants to concentrate on bettering his constituency before he can even think of shooting for films again. “I made a promise. First, I want to concentrate on making this constituency better. No one should fault me for at least not filling potholes or building new roads. OG chestava, kya ji, ante mari em cheppanu? (What will I do if someone questions why I’m busy shooting for OG instead?),” Pawan said.

However, Pawan hasn’t completely abandoned his film career, especially regarding his pending projects. He shared that he requested more time from his filmmakers, stating, “With that fear in my heart, I even told my filmmakers — you must forgive me, but I need to concentrate on serving people first. I will shoot films only when I find the time for it.” Ending the conversation on a hopeful note, Pawan said, “OG chudduru gaani, bauntundi. (You’ll indeed watch OG, it’ll be good).”

Pawan, who made his debut in the 1996 film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi, ventured into politics in 2014 by founding his own party, the JanaSena Party. Despite a setback in the 2019 elections, the party made history by winning all 21 assembly seats it contested in 2024. Pawan is now serving as the MLA of Pithapuram and the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Coming to Pawan’s work front, the actor has yet to wrap up the shoot of his upcoming film Sujeeth’s OG. He also has Harish Shankar’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, the Telugu remake of the Tamil film Theri.
