PM Modi lauds rural training centres in Maharashtra

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Thursday that the 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras will prepare the next generation for possibilities around the world.

“The centres that are going to start in the villages in Maharashtra will prepare the youth for global opportunities. These centres will teach skills related to the construction sector and skills regarding farming through modern technology. The work of media and entertainment in Maharashtra is huge – centres for special training will be established for these too,” PM Modi said at the launch event of 511 Pramod Mahajan Grameen Kaushalya Vikas Kendras in Maharashtra.

PM Modi further said that today, India is not just creating skilled professionals for itself but also for the world.

“Under the skill development programme of my government, 1.3 crore youth have received training. Demand for skilled youth in India is increasing across the world. Surveys say that there are about 16 countries that want to employ 40 lakh skilled workers,” he added.

The demand for skilled youth is rising, and PM Modi further emphasised that India is training professionals not just for itself but also for other nations.

“There was no vision for skill development in India during earlier governments despite industrial demand and availability of talent. India’s agriculture sector also requires new skills. Chemical-based farming techniques are damaging the agricultural land,” he added.

In 34 rural districts of Maharashtra, these skill development institutes bearing the name of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan are being built.

To offer rural youth employment prospects, these facilities will undertake skill development training programmes across a variety of sectors.

“Each Kendra will train about 100 youngsters in at least two vocational courses. The training is being provided by empanelled industry partners and agencies under the National Skill Development Council,” the PMO said.

The establishment of these centres will help the region attain significant strides towards developing more competent and skilled manpower, the PMO added.
