Poland could be the most popular European tourist destination next year

The year 2024 is predicted to be really lucrative for European countries welcoming tourists. Major airlines like Delta  (DAL) - Get Free Report and American Airlines  (AAL) - Get Free Report have added more routes from the United States to countries like France, Italy, and Spain.

But this year, it isn’t the homes of the Eiffel Tower or the Leaning Tower of Pisa that will have travelers swooning. If previous years are any indicator, 2024 is going to be the year everybody wants to go to Poland.

Poland has never had the tourism draw as its neighbors. The country drew in 15.9 million tourists last year, but that’s a drop in the bucket when compared to more than 71 million visitors to Spain or Italy.

More travel & tourism:

But Poland is on track to close out 2023 with a 48.5% year-on-year growth in tourism since 2021. More and more tourists are flocking to the country – and there are a few reasons why.

For one, this summer has seen record heat waves spanning across Southern Europe. Poland still enjoys warm summers along its Baltic Sea beaches, but has stayed reasonably cooler during the difficult summer of 2023.

The country also hosts attractions as rich in historical draw as its neighboring countries. Cities like Warsaw and Krakow offer preserved medieval cities, unique architectural sites, and buzzing nightlife.

It also doesn’t hurt that the local currency, the zloty, is usually weaker than the euro, dollar, and British pound.
