Hyderabad: Ramoji Rao, a respected titan in cinema, media, and commerce, died at the age of 87 on June 8th. His demise triggered a wave of sadness across the country, pulling at the heartstrings of public figures from both entertainment and political landscapes. In a stirring tribute, both the Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC) and Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) announced a complete halt on all film productions for Sunday, offering a poignant pause to honor his memory. The TFPC shared an official statement on what some of us might still remember as Twitter, now referred to as X platform, It read, “Ramoji Rao’s death will bring the Telugu film industry to a standstill in Andhra and Telangana states tomorrow (sic).”
The statement reads, “Telugu Film Producers Council hereby inform that as a mark of respect to Sri Ramoji Rao garu who passed away today morning (08.06.24) that Telugu Film Industry will remain closed tomorrow in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Therefore, there will be no shootings or any film related works tomorrow (sic).”

Many folks involved in the Telugu film sector took a break from their shooting schedules on Saturday out of respect for Ramoji Rao. After he passed away at Star Hospital, his body was moved back to his resident at the Ramoji Film City. It’s important to note, he’d been grappling with a disease for quite some time.
The Chief Minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, has expressed his admiration for Ramoji and his steadfast dedication to the field of journalism. Reddy also made it known that the government of Telangana is set to supervise the final rites for Ramoji, and they will do so with official acknowledgement coming Sunday morning. The Collector and the Commissioner of Cyberabad are charged with making all necessary arrangements for this ceremony.

Other well-known personas including Kangana Ranaut, Riteish Deshmukh, Venkatesh Daggubati, Chiranjeevi, and Pawan Kalyan also paid their respects to Ramoji on X. The idea of bestowing Bharat Ratna upon Ramoji was proposed by SS Rajamouli on Twitter, an idea that was warmly backed by Allu Arjun.
