Ranveer Singh Leaves Prasanth Varma’s ‘Rakshas’ After Shooting For 3 Days ‘Without Explanation’- Report

The producers of ‘Rakshas‘ are allegedly upset with actor Ranveer Singh over his sudden decision to withdraw from the movie. A source close to the production has now revealed that the actor left the film without giving any reason, despite a previous story claiming that he and director Prasanth Varma parted ways over creative disagreements. Prasanth Varma, the renowned South Indian filmmaker of HanuMan, has been in the spotlight ever since his film became a hit. Following the release of this film, he revealed the release date of the much anticipated ‘Jai HanuMan‘ sequel. Additionally, rumours circulated that the director was in discussions for a second project with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh. These two were collaborating on a movie called ‘Rakshas,’ which was reportedly inspired by Indian mythology.

Ranveer Singh travelled to Hyderabad in April for a picture session intended to promote the movie, but there were issues with the announcement. It was said that the two had an amicable split up because of creative disagreements. Even while both of them had attempted to fix this before, it was not possible.

An insider told Times Now that because the director had no immediate intentions to start filming ‘Rakshas,’ Ranveer was the one who ‘pursued’ the HanuMan director. Prasanth reportedly had another Telugu film planned, but he chose to put it on hold to focus on ‘Rakshas‘ following the actor’s ‘enthusiasm.’

Speaking about his abrupt exit from the film, the source said, “Ranveer flew down to shoot with us. Contrary to reports, he didn’t shoot a first-look video with us. He actually shot for the film for three days with us. We packed up happily…The next thing we know he sends us a message saying he would not be able to do the film. No explanation was offered as to why. We were stunned. Making it worse was the fact that someone leaked this news to the Mumbai media. We would have dealt with the crisis discreetly quietly. In Mumbai, they like to create controversy even for unprofessional behaviour. We don’t work that way.”

The same source revealed that someone had discouraged Ranveer from starting ‘Rakshas.’ “If this is the case, shouldn’t he have acted upon the advice sooner to avoid the losses and humiliation for us?”

Speaking honestly about the financial losses resulting from Singh’s departure, the insider said that, should he choose not to complete the project, the crew plans to include Ranveer’s three days of filming in the movie The possibility of his return is being left open by the creators. The source added, “But we want to ask Ranveer a question – Is this a joke? To opt out of a foolproof commitment?”
