Ravindra Jadeja Retires From T20 Internationals After India’s World Cup Triumph In Barbados

New Delhi: After Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from T20Is, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja took the same route on Sunday. Jadeja’s retirement was on expected lines after the 35-year-old didn’t perform as expected in the T20 World Cup 2024 that India won on Saturday after beating South Africa in the final in Barbados. It was India second T20 World Cup triumph after MS Dhoni’s men won the inaugural season in 2007.

Taking to social media, Jadeja stated he will be continuing to represent India in Tests and ODIs and winning the T20 World Cup was the pinnacle of his career in the shortest format. “With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career,” Jadeja posted on Instagram.

“Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support,” he added. Earlier on Saturday, both Virat and rohit called it time in their respective T20I careers. Having made his debut in T20Is against Sri Lanka back in 2009, he played 74 matches, scoring 515 runs and taking 54 wickets. Jadeja, a great servant of Indian cricket for more than a decade and half, was not in the best of form in the just-concluded World Cup.
