Richa Chadha Stands by Sharmin Segal Amid Heavy Trolling Over Heeramandi: ‘Be Kind, Can Affect Mental Health’

Since the release of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, actor Sharmin Segal, niece of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who played Alamzeb in the show, has faced criticism for her performance. Her co-star, Richa Chadha, who played Lajjo, has come to her defense on Instagram Stories, addressing the heavy trolling Segal has received. Richa stated that while it is acceptable to dislike a performance, the negative and out-of-context trolling is unwarranted. “For the past month, whenever I have been able to keep track and vigilant enough, I have been deleting negative comments about my co-star that have been appearing in my comments. Guys? Offer constructive criticism, but this much visceral hate?” she wrote.

She added, “It’s one thing to reject someone’s performance. Fine, don’t like it, that’s your right. But don’t troll with such relish. Please? Out-of-context interview clips (that too from a legit roast, y’all are using). Why?”

Richa urged people to be kind and refrain from reducing Sharmin to clickbait. “I know it’s tempting to jump on a trend, but to make another human being clickbait? I think we can all do better than that, be better than that. Be kind. Please. It can affect someone’s mental health. A big election just happened, there’s a heat wave on, there’s so much going on in the world! Please move on?” she concluded.

When Richa Chadha Roasted Sharmin Segal

In an earlier interview with IMDb, Richa roasted Sharmin when she claimed to be a great chef. Sharmin revealed that she is a great cook, Richa laughed and said, “What?” Sharmin responded that she was a really good cook and the salad she ate in the morning was prepared by her. Richa continued to pull her leg and asked if she cut vegetables and did slow claps for her Heeramandi co-star. Sharmin said, “I cook very well. I make proper Christmas lunches.” Richa then quipped, “I don’t think you and I should sit next to each other.”
