New Delhi: Because the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction gets close, there have been numerous talks regarding Rohit Sharma’s stay at Mumbai Indians. The 5-time IPL-winning captain became removed from captaincy last season with Hardik Pandya taking on. Then again, the move didn’t go well with the fans as they trolled and booed Pandya in every and each Mumbai Indians game.

On being asked why Rohit became removed from captaincy, the Mumbai Indians management remained mum on the issue. There were rumours that the connection between Mumbai Indians and Rohit may perhaps have deteriorated but his felicitation at Ambani’s wedding proved the critics wrong.

Former India cricketer-turned-analyst, Aakash Chopra opined Rohit may well shift base via trading. “Will he stay or will he go? It’s a giant question. Personally, I feel he'll now not stay. Whoever is retained can be with the thinking that he'll remain with you for 3 years, unless your name is MS Dhoni,” Chopra said based on a fan’s question on his YouTube channel.

“MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings’ story may well perchance be very different but Rohit Sharma at MI, I feel he may well himself leave or MI may well leave him,” he added. Having said that, IPL doesn’t allow pre-auction tradings earlier than a mega auction. Pandya became element of a pre-auction trade last year.

“Anything can happen but I don’t think Rohit goes to be retained here. I don’t have any information but I feel Rohit will likely be released. He may well go to somebody contained in the trade window, that’s a possibility that he doesn’t go to the auction, but if that doesn’t happen, he may well perchance be seen contained in the auction. I feel his journey with the Mumbai Indians is over,” added the previous KKR opener.
