New York: With hours left to go for the India versus Ireland T20 WC 2024 clash, there is much speculation over who opens the batting. The options are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal. While most believe Rohit should open with Kohli, former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull, who too agrees, reveals that he has heard rumours that it would be Rohit opening with Jaiswal. Doull also wonders if India would leave out Shivam Dube.
“I’ve heard rumours today that Jaiswal was the first into the nets. They’ve given him plenty of opportunity. That would surprise me if they bring him in. Who do they leave out? Shivam Dube? That would surprise me a touch,” Doull said on Cricbuzz.
“We do not want to reveal much but we have Rohit and Jaiswal, Virat has also opened in the IPL so everything is on the cards,” India coach Rahul Dravid said at the pre-match presser.
