Russia suffers big blow as Ukraine’s drone attack in Moscow destroys vital fuel pipeline, disrupts supply
The Russian military is unable to access fuel.
New Delhi: Ukraine’s intelligence agency (HUR) attacked a 400-km fuel pipeline near the Russian capital, Moscow, on Friday, October 31. The pipeline is called the Ring.
This attack has disrupted the supply of petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel to the Russian military. The attack simultaneously destroyed all three main pipelines in the southeast of Moscow.
Air defence did not work
Drone interception systems and armed guards were deployed there, but all failed. Now the pipeline is completely blocked, and the Russian military is unable to access fuel.
According to media reports, this pipeline transported 3 million tons of jet fuel and millions of tons of petrol and diesel each year. This loss has dealt a significant blow to the Russian military and Moscow’s economy.
Big loss for Russia
HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov said that their direct attacks are causing more damage than all the economic sanctions in the world.
This attack was part of a series of Ukrainian drone attacks that continued overnight. The Russian military claimed to have shot down 98 drones in 10 areas. The city of Zhukovsky, near Moscow, experienced power outages overnight. In the city of Tula, drone fragments fell onto roads, halting traffic.
